Personality:
Gaya is a gentle, sweet natured girl who is quietly finding her confidence one day at a time. She arrived at the shelter at just two months old, underweight and having already faced more than any puppy should. Despite her difficult start, she has the most beautiful heart and tries her absolute hardest to make her people happy.
Once Gaya trusts you, her personality truly blossoms. She greets you with the happiest full body wiggles and is currently the queen of the shelter zoomies, racing around with pure joy before happily soaking up all the love and affection she can get. Watching her confidence grow is something really special, and it's impossible not to fall in love with her gentle soul.
Tamariki – 5+ as she needs to build confidence through consistency and positive interactions.
Cats – Ok provided proper intros and supervision.
Kūri – Friendly. Ongoing socialisation needed.
Stock/poultry – Untested.
Size – Currently 5.3kgs. Likely to mature large in size.
Ideal home:
Gaya is looking for an active home with large breed or bully breed experience that can continue building her confidence through positive training, ongoing socialisation, enrichment, and lots of love. She'll thrive with patient people who can show her that the world is a safe and exciting place. In return, you'll gain an incredibly loyal companion who will reward your kindness with endless love, goofy zoomies, and a heart full of gratitude.
In accordance with the Dog Control Act 1996, Gaya will be classified as Menacing by Breed and will need to adhere to the conditions attached to this.

The adoption fee is $450, which includes:
- Vet check
- First vaccination (including Lepto and Kennel Cough)
- Microchipping
- De-sexing
- Registration
- Bath
- Flea and worm treatment
- 1-month free accident cover from Pet-n-Sur
Things you need to know:
- All members of the family - including dogs - are required to come to a meet & greet appointment if selected in the adoption process. This includes out of Aucklanders.
- A fully fenced section or outside containment will be needed to pass a property inspection.
- We aim to find the best home for each dog, so adopting a dog is not on a first-in-first-served basis.
- If you are unsuccessful, we will keep your application on file for 6 months or may suggest another dog that is suited to your application.
