Personality:
Ruby Tui is a gentle, thoughtful girl who takes a little time to feel comfortable in new situations. While she can be unsure when faced with unfamiliar environments, she looks to her handler for reassurance and gains confidence from having someone she trusts by her side. Once she starts to relax, a completely different side of her emerges. She is playful, affectionate, and full of personality, with a love of toys that is impossible to miss. Whether she is inviting you to join in a game or happily flinging toys around by herself, Ruby Tui knows how to have fun. She adores human attention and forms strong bonds with her people, rewarding their patience with plenty of love and loyalty.
Tamariki – 16+ as she need the right handling to build her confidence.
Cats – Confident cats ok with correct training and intros.
Kūri – She is socially awkward but working through this. More socialisation is needed and is part of her shelter training.
Stock/poultry – Untested.
Size – Currently 23.2kgs and is fully grown, just needs to fill out a little.

Ruby Tui is looking for an experienced, quiet home that will prioritise her confidence building and ongoing socialisation. She will thrive with patient adopters who understand that confidence grows over time. As she becomes more comfortable, it will be important that her world continues to expand. Ruby needs a family committed to helping her navigate the world through positive introductions, gentle encouragement and consistency.
A calm, well mannered canine companion could be a wonderful role model, helping her build confidence and showing her that new things are not so scary after all. With the right support, Ruby Tui is already showing signs of the happy, playful and loving dog she is becoming. Watching her confidence grow and her personality blossom will be incredibly rewarding for the lucky person who gives her that chance.

The adoption fee is $450, which includes:
- Vet check
- First vaccination (including Lepto and Kennel Cough)
- Microchipping
- De-sexing
- Registration
- Bath
- Flea and worm treatment
- 1-month free accident cover from Pet-n-Sur
Things you need to know:
- All members of the family - including dogs - are required to come to a meet & greet appointment if selected in the adoption process. This includes out of Aucklanders.
- A fully fenced section or outside containment will be needed to pass a property inspection.
- We aim to find the best home for each dog, so adopting a dog is not on a first-in-first-served basis.
- If you are unsuccessful, we will keep your application on file for 6 months or may suggest another dog that is suited to your application.
