Join Rangiatea for an insight into Māori Cultural Games!
We have a great morning planned!
- 10am - 10.30am: Single poi participants will learn the basic movements and techniques of using a single poi, while exploring its traditional Māori origins and cultural significance.
- 10.40am - 11.10am: Tititōrea – “E Papa Waiari”. An interactive session where you will learn the traditional Māori stick game Tititōrea, accompanied by the waiata E Papa Waiari.
This activity develops rhythm, coordination, concentration and teamwork. - 11.20am - 11.50am: Pā Kāinga - Life in the Old Days. A kōrero about traditional Māori village life, including how our tūpuna lived, worked and cared for one another.
You will then work together in groups to complete a 3D whare puzzle building challenge, encouraging communication, problem-solving and collaborative learning.
