The Whetū of Matariki | Saturday 4 July - Sunday 19 July (all day)
An exhibition of whetū and their stories, featuring artwork by AUT design student Te Awanui-a-Rangi Clark.
The exhibition will appear throughout the ground floor and first floor of Tāmaki Pātaka Kōrero.
Learn about the pūrākau of Matariki and contribute to our community colouring project.
This exhibition and colouring activation are suitable for all whānau to interact with.
Matariki Night Sky Projection | Saturday 11 July - Sunday 19 July (all day)
Experience projections of whetū in the night sky at Tāmaki Pātaka Kōrero.
Our event space will be transformed into a lower-sensory environment, creating a peaceful setting for reflection to look upon the grandeur of Rangi Sky Father.
Te manu tukutuku | Tuesday 7 July, 2.30pm - 3.30pm
Make your own paper kite to celebrate Matariki.
Manu tukutuku were traditionally flown during Matariki and other times. This activity aligns with the star Ururangi and connects us to the winds.
Suitable for tamariki aged 5 and up.
The Battle of the Mountains - Peter Gossage | Saturday 11 July, 2.30pm - 3.30pm
Make your own set of maunga stick puppets and help tell the story of the Battle of the Mountains by Peter Gossage.
Suitable for tamariki aged 5 and up.
Waipunarangi Craft | Friday 17 July, 2.30pm - 3.30pm
Create an artwork inspired by the rain.
Suitable for tamariki aged 5 and up.
Native Bird Art | Saturday 18 July, 2.30pm - 3.30pm
Create a 'stained glass' picture using cellophane and black paper that you can take home to hang in your window.
