Dynamic Triptych The Mātātā Ensemble return with a bold and beautifully balanced programme that celebrates the richness of the piano quintet tradition while venturing into new sonic territory.
At the heart of the programme are two masterworks:
- the sweeping, late-Romantic Piano Quintet by Amy Beach, whose lush harmonies and soaring lyricism marked a defining moment in American chamber music
- the color-drenched Quintet by Enrique Granados, infused with Spanish warmth and rhythmic vitality.
New for this year, the Ensemble expands its palette with a movement from a String Quintet by Beethoven, bringing added depth and brilliance to the programme. Beethoven’s masterful interplay and dramatic contrasts offer a compelling counterpoint to the romantic expressiveness of Beach and Granados.
