Join us to discover Auckland Libraries' unique collections, stories and research services at the Research & Heritage Collections Open Day.

Whether you are a beginner researcher or curious about exploring the rich stories held in our research and heritage collections, come along to learn and start your own journey of discovery.

Talk: Discovering Buried Waters (11am-12pm)

Join us for, ‘Discovering Buried Waters: Research into the story of Te Waihorotiu’, as local historian Lisa Truttman speaks about her research for the book, Buried Waters: Te Waihorotiu in colonial Auckland. While several archives and repositories were used to gather information for the book, a major source proved to be the records, files, images and early newspapers held by Auckland Libraries. In this talk, Lisa Truttman will provide a summary of the findings in the book, plus some background into the records located in the Auckland Libraries Heritage Collections.

About our presenter: Lisa Truttman

Lisa Truttman is a professional heritage researcher, and President of the NZ History Federation and the Avondale-Waterview Historical Society. Buried Waters is one of a number of self-published books, reports and research summaries by Lisa since 2001. She is also the author of the Timespanner blog, and administrator of the Timespanner local heritage Facebook community page.
