One legendary instrument. 100 years of music. A sound like no other!

Join us at Glen Eden Playhouse Theatre for a very special musical show featuring world-renowned organist Jelani Eddington.

Enjoy a wonderful programme of popular music, from timeless tunes of the 1930s and 1940s to musical theatre favourites and hits of today. The Wurlitzer is no ordinary organ. With hundreds of pipes, an amazing range of orchestral sounds and a few surprises along the way, it can create the sound of a full orchestra, all played by one musician.

This special occasion marks 100 years of music-making and celebrates the return of the full Mighty Wurlitzer to the public stage. Whether you’re a long-time theatre organ enthusiast or simply love a good show tune, prepare for a musical experience packed with nostalgia, theatrical flair and familiar favourites.

What is a Wurlitzer organ?

Originally designed to accompany silent films, theatre pipe organs were built to bring the cinema to life with music and special effects. From trumpets and tubas to sleigh bells and other surprises, the Wurlitzer has an extraordinary range of sounds at the organist’s fingertips.

There are only four of these instruments playable in Aotearoa New Zealand, making Auckland’s historic Wurlitzer a special part of our musical heritage.
