Mokuhanga, the Japanese method of water-based woodblock printing, is best known for the iconic ukiyo-e prints of Japan’s Edo period.

In this five-week course, you’ll be introduced to the fundamentals of this sustainable and low-tech printmaking technique. You’ll explore design considerations, carving methods, the effective registration system and printing techniques unique to mokuhanga.

The course is suitable for beginners as well as experienced artists, printmakers, and anyone with an interest in Japanese art and craft traditions.

Maximum of 10 participants. Basic tools and materials provided.
