This gallery kōrero brings together Fa’amele Etuale and Lema Shamamba who will share deeper insights into their exhibitions Kitinga bashenyi and Home at the Homestead Galleries. Their practices both look inward through their home and family, launching outwards into their communities and beyond.
Fa’amele Etuale is a Contemporary Samoan artist whose passion stems from her foundational work as a painter, installation artist, and jeweller specialising in contemporary Samoan design.
Lema Shamaba is from Bweremana, a district of Masisi in the eastern territory of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Her embroidery is a visual language that she uses to express the suffering of her people in her village.
This kōrero is part of Open Arts Day at Corban Estate Arts Centre.
