The council is making the most of its mobile workplace strategy to limit disturbance to the working day on Thursday 4 February. Council staff at 135 Albert Street have a choice to work at other locations or from home. They will still complete a work day as usual.
Auckland Council’s central city buildings (135 Albert Street and Bledisloe House) could be affected by high pedestrian numbers and disruption this Thursday (4 February) when the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement signing is hosted in the neighbouring hotel block.
Chief Operating Officer Dean Kimpton says the council is making the most of its mobile workplace strategy to limit disturbance to the working day.
“Whilst we view Thursday as a normal work day for our staff, we acknowledge that there may be some disruption to building access and difficulty getting into the city on the day.
“All good large employers these days have smart and flexible workplace strategies that make the most of office space and technology and Auckland Council is no exception.
“The council has a reasonably mobile workforce which means our staff can touch down at many council locations around the region and can also work from home.
“Flexible-working arrangements for Thursday will incur no additional cost to the organisation,” he says.
What we’re doing:
• Council staff at 135 Albert Street may choose to work at other locations or from home. They will still complete a work day as usual.
• Access to 135 Albert Street may be disrupted so meetings with external visitors on Thursday are being rearranged.
• One council workshop, involving elected members and council staff, is being relocated to avoid disruption.
• No staff are being ‘relocated’ – rather, they are offered the common sense approach of working elsewhere if appropriate.
Important information for customers
• Bledisloe House service centre remains open but access into the city, including parking, may be disrupted. Customers can visit other service centres around the region or phone council on 09 301 0101.
