Recovery in Roskill – second round of funding now open

A Local Community Event

Wesley and Roskill residents are being invited to participate in the second round of funding for the Building Back Better Together Fund, open now until 7 December 2026.

The funding, which was proudly provided by Auckland Council following the 2023 severe weather events, aims to bring to life the community-led recovery action plan, Recovery and Resilience in Roskill [2.7MB PDF].

Recently, the Leadership Rōpū who helped the community create the action plan, hosted a community ideas and project lab at the Wesley Community Centre to help people who had an initial idea but wanted support in applying for funding.

If you missed this session and have a possible idea, there is support available – just fill in the Expression of Interest (EOI) form and the team will be in touch. The Leadership Rōpū is also working to broaden participation in round two. This includes working across local youth organisations, schools and youth networks to support more young people to develop ideas, participate in the campaign and take part in voting.

In addition, they are also focussing on having a stronger involvement from the local business community and are working closely with Puketāpapa Business Voice.

Have an idea?

Your idea needs to respond to one or more of the six recovery priorities the community has identified following the 2023 floods:

  • Living with Water – helping our neighbourhoods better understand and live with flooding and water.
  • Power to the People – strengthening local voices, leadership and advocacy.
  • Restoring Safe Ground – helping neighbourhoods feel safe, cared for and connected.
  • Connections that Count – strengthening relationships and connections between people.
  • Weaving Lasting Wellbeing – supporting community and whānau wellbeing.
  • Future-Ready Communities – building skills, preparedness and resilience for the future.

If you have an idea or want more information, visit the Roskill Together website.

Community to decide who receives funding

Like the first round of funding, the community will decide on the successful projects.

Community voting will run from 13-21 March 2027 and will be supported through schools, community organisations, neighbourhood networks, community stalls and online promotion.

A major voting event will be held on 20 March, with Recovery in Roskill partnering with Wesley Community Centre and Welcoming Communities at their Welcome to Puketāpapa Day. Building on the strong turnout at the 2026 event, the day will include free snow play, voting, community activities and services and organisations supporting communities across Puketāpapa.

Keep up-to-date on voting activitites on the Roskill Together website.

Key dates:

  • Funding open now until 7 December 2026.
