About Leo

  • American Pit Bull Terrier
  • Male
  • Good with children
  • 1 year
  • Can live with other dogs
  • Can live with cats
  • Pukekohe Adoption and Education Centre

Personality:

Lovely boy with a heart full of love to give, Leo is as smoochy as they come. He absolutely adores people and will gently lean into you for cuddles before happily climbing into your lap like he belongs there. He has the sweetest, soft nature and really thrives on close connection with his humans. Leo can be a little unsure with sudden movements and loud noises, so he is looking for someone patient who will help him feel safe and build his confidence at his own pace. With reassurance and kindness, he truly blossoms into the most devoted companion.

Tamariki – 10+ as he is still growing his confidence.
Cats – Seems uninterested in shelter cat.

Kūri – Slow approach, not sure but comes out of his shell when he learns it's ok. Slow intro's and further socialisation needed.
Stock/poultry – Untested.
Size – Currently 26.3kgs and is almost fully grown.

Ideal home:

Leo is looking for a calm, quiet home where he can take his time settling in and growing in confidence. He would do best with an experienced owner, ideally someone familiar with his breed, who can guide him gently through new experiences and continue his socialisation. A steady routine, positive reinforcement, and a peaceful environment will help him feel secure and bring out the very best in him.

If you have a soft spot for a gentle soul, Leo is ready to quietly steal your heart and never give it back.
