New Zealand International Comedy Festival is teaming up with Britomart to bring the laughs to Takutai Square.
Comedy Fest in Takutai Square is a sneak peek at what’s to come at this year's New Zealand International Comedy Festival. For one day only a selection of some of New Zealand’s funniest people will converge on Takutai Square to perform some of their funniest gags, silliest bits and be downright entertaining.
There is something for everyone and it’s free!

Lunchtime Laughs | 12.30pm
A neatly packed tasting platter of what’s to come in New Zealand comedy. This will be a showcase of talent fresher than Britomart’s finest sushi.
Hosted by the relatable and always crack-up Tony Lyall (7 Days, Comedy Gala, The Project).

Family-Friendly Funnies | 3.00pm
Laughter is for everyone! Bring your tamariki and rangatahi down to Takutai Square to see Sam Smith (the comedian not the singer, he’s been on 7 Days & Taskmaster) host an array of comedians and improvisors, who will clown their way through an hour of school holiday entertainment.
Featuring Bull Rush and Florence Hartigan.
Later On Laughs | 6.30pm
The sun goes down, the legends come out! See some of New Zealand’s best known comedians performing some of their favourite and best jokes, hosted by 2025 Billy T Nominee Itay Dom. This will be a who’s-who of comedy in Aotearoa and is not to be missed!
