The 2023 floods showed us on Dundale Avenue just how important our streams, streets and neighbours are when heavy rain hits.
Come along for a hands-on morning of stream care, mulching and flood resilience - and a chance to get to know the people who live around you.
Together we’ll:
- Care for the Whau streamside
- Mulch areas to help protect and strengthen planting
- Talk about what happened during the 2023 floods and what we’ve learned
- Look at simple things around our street that can help us prepare for heavy rain
- Share some kai and a cuppa with neighbour.
You don’t need to be a gardener or know anything about streams. Just bring yourself, sturdy shoes and a willingness to get stuck in.
Flood resilience isn’t just about infrastructure - it’s about healthy streams, prepared places and neighbours who know each other. Come and help care for the stream that is part of our neighbourhood.
Hosted by Dundale Eco Stream Community and supported by EcoMatters and Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters department.
