Electoral ward changes will affect some voters in October local elections

Do you live in the Wairoa subdivision of the Franklin Local Board area? Check your letterbox so you can vote in the Franklin by-election.

Voting opens on Monday 11 May and voting papers will be delivered to eligible voters between 11 and 14 May.

Vote Auckland has candidate profiles available with additional information provided by the candidates about themselves and their policies.

General Manager Governance and Engagement at Auckland Council, Lou-Ann Ballantyne, encourages people who live in the Wairoa subdivision area to check their letterboxes over the next few days to ensure they have their voting papers.

“You can vote as soon as you get your papers and we encourage people to vote early, rather than tuck the papers away. Check out the candidates who are standing and vote today. Every envelope that gets posted back or dropped into a voting box shows your great local support for Franklin, says Ms Ballantyne.

Voting papers are personal documents and should only be handled by the voter.

Anyone who has not received their voting papers by Thursday 14 May 2026 should contact the Electoral Office at info@electionservices.co.nz or call 0800 922 822.

The Electoral Office can confirm voter eligibility and explain how to cast a special vote.

Voting for the Wairoa subdivision by-election of the Franklin Local Board closes at midday on Wednesday 10 June.
