Piha Domain Campground update

Piha Domain Campground

Thank you to everyone who has sent us messages and emails urging us not to close our beloved Piha Domain Campground. We understand there has been a lot of anxiety and uncertainty about its future, and we, as a board, care deeply about this special place, just as you do.

On Thursday, we received further staff advice on the campground, and we can now confirm that the decision on its future will be made by the local board.

It’s not an easy decision. There are many things to consider, including the health and safety of campground users, the economic impact on Piha, our shared history and, of course, all the special memories that have been made at the campground over the years.

Council and the local board are liaising closely with Fiona, the operator and with local organisations.

We appreciate your patience while we carefully consider the advice we have received, along with further information we have requested that will come through.

At this stage, a decision will be made at the next available opportunity, our October business meeting. We continue to welcome community advocacy and we will share the outcome with you as soon as it’s available.
