Better Dominion Road connections, speed calming improvements and bus stop upgrades are just some of the transport initiatives locked in for Puketapapa for 2026-2029.
The Puketāpapa Local Board has allocated its $2.4m transport fund to five projects, with a focus on improving accessibility, pedestrian safety as well as enhancing public transport connections.
Local Board Chair Roseanne Hay says the programme reflects community priorities, and the projects will make it easier and safer to move around Puketāpapa.
"These projects are about creating safer, more accessible streets and transport connections for our communities, while making the most of the funding available to the local board," she says.
"From bus stop improvements to footpath upgrades and traffic calming measures, we're investing in projects that will make a real difference to how people travel every day."
All projects will be delivered within the 2026-2026 financial years.
What projects are included in the 2026-2029 Puketāpapa transport programme?
- Dominion Road footpath widening ($1.98m): widening works across stages one and two, including intersection improvements, to provide better space for pedestrians.
- Mt Roskill traffic calming area improvements ($150,000): traffic calming measures to improve safety for people walking, cycling and driving.
- Carr Road bus stop upgrade ($140,000): upgrades to improve access and safety for public transport users.
- Pah Road bus stop upgrade ($70,000): accessibility and amenity improvements at the bus stop.
- White Swan Road bus stop upgrade ($70,000): improvements to support safer and more comfortable journeys.
Future projects identified for consideration
The local board has also signalled several contingency projects that could be considered if savings become available during delivery of the programme.
These include improvements to the May Road Shared Path, new wayfinding signage, a shared path connection between Roskill South shops and Keith Hay Park, and a park connection at Smallfield Avenue.
